Shipping & Returns Policy

1. Shipping from Broken Hill

All orders from The Old Saltbush are carefully packed and dispatched from our base in Broken Hill, NSW. As we ship from a regional location, we appreciate your patience as your order makes its way to you.

2. Australia Post Delivery Estimates

The following times are based on business days after your order has been dispatched from the Broken Hill Post Office.

Parcel Post (Standard)

  • To NSW Regional / Adelaide: 3–5 business days.

  • To Sydney / Melbourne / Brisbane Metro: 4–7 business days.

  • To Perth / Darwin / Hobart: 6–10 business days.

  • To Remote Regional areas: 10+ business days.

Express Post

  • To Sydney / Adelaide / Melbourne: 2–3 business days.

  • To Perth / Brisbane: 3–4 business days.

  • Regional NSW: 2–4 business days.

  • Note: Broken Hill is outside the “Next Day Guarantee” network, but Express remains the fastest way to receive your order.

3. Alcohol Delivery & Legal Requirements (Signature Required)

Because your order contains alcohol, we strictly adhere to Australian Liquor Laws and Australia Post’s delivery guidelines:

  • No Authority to Leave (ATL): Alcohol shipments cannot be left unattended. A signature from an adult (18+) is required for every delivery.

  • ID25 Policy: If the recipient looks under 25, Australia Post staff will ask to see a valid photo ID.

  • Missed Delivery: If no one is home to sign, your parcel will be taken to the nearest Australia Post Office.

  • Restricted Areas: We do not ship to “Dry Zones” or restricted postcodes (e.g., parts of NT, QLD, and WA) in accordance with state legislation.

4. Returns & Refunds

Our returns policy is governed by the Australian Consumer Law (ACL).

  • Damaged in Transit: If a bottle arrives broken, please email us at lee@theoldsaltbush.com.au within 48 hours with photos of the damaged goods and packaging. Because we ship from the outback, we use heavy-duty packaging, but accidents can happen.

  • Change of Mind: Due to health and safety regulations for food and beverages, we cannot accept returns for “change of mind” once the order has been dispatched.

  • PayPal Refunds: Any approved refunds will be credited back to your original PayPal account or payment card. Processing times depend on PayPal’s standard terms.

5. Tracking Your Order

Once we lodge your parcel in Broken Hill, you will receive a tracking number via email. You can monitor its journey across the country on the Australia Post website or via the AusPost mobile app.
